This is my second time running the Fargo Marathon. Both times the finish has been disappointing for slower runners. The bands are done around mile 14, and there are no beer, bananas, or chocolate milk at the finish line. In 2014, slower finishers (5:30/6:30) were stranded downtown because the shuttles quit. I’m fortunate because I’m from this area, and I learned my lesson after the first time to drive my own car. There were more than 100 people who finished after me, and I know it’s run by volunteers and people just want to be done, but seriously – if you keep a race open for 7 hours, you might want to have more than warm water and cold pizza squares at the finish. Or at least clean up the other stuff so we don’t know what we missed .

Race course is about as flat as can be, with a nice section along the Red River and into Minnesota. The volunteer support was outstanding, and it was very nice to be able to start and finish inside the Fargodome. Access to the locker rooms for hot showers after the race was a huge plus. The day turned out too hot for my liking, but you can’t control the weather. If you are from out of town, be sure to plan time to visit the Fargo wood chipper.

Music throughout is nice. Downtown and college portions are the best. River run and bike trails are a nice touch as well. Would like to see all half marathoners done by the time the marathoners finish, the last thing we want to do is muscle through a bunch of halfers hoardering all the food stations.

This even was well run with a nice venue for the expo/packet pickup which also served as the start/finish area. All volunteers on course were very good. Pacer I ended up finishing with was 8 seconds faster than pace which was awesome. Very good drink and food after.
Also this race prices e-mails for deals and discounts to other races. I used mine for the gopher to badger

The race was very well organized with plenty of shuttles from hotels to race start. Permanent restrooms in the Fargo Dome are always a plus! The race day temperature was warmer than desired for a marathon (mid to high 70s by noon). It was a beautiful day but hot in full sun. Fortunately the course had a lot of shade which helped. But it was still hot. Residents were awesome as many had water hoses and sprinklers turned on as we ran by. They also passed out extra water / powerade and food. Everyone was incredibly friendly in town. I really had a great time in Fargo and highly recommend this race!!

This course is not as fast as advertised way too many turns to get on pace and path that you run on is very uneven and bumpy really had to exert a lot of energy on where to run..this was not easy on a warm day … Also should have had more water stations especially at end should be at least every mile like most marathons and with the heat should have for surely added some … Also port a potties along course were non existant

I love the enthusiastic, supportive people that were cheering you along the entire 26.2 miles! The volunteers were VERY helpful and right there to help runners who were struggling due to the heat and/or other ailments. There were children who were also cheering and handing out nutritious snacks (orange slices, candy, etc.) and a “high 5” along the way. I just really enjoyed the enthusiasm of the spectators. THANK YOU!

This is an amazing race my husband and I have run the full marathon in Fargo the last 3 years in a row. It is well organized, well supported, great course layout, enjoyed the extra park green space this year, love the live bands and of course Elvis. The warmer humid conditions added some stresses to the run, but the supporters added bottled water, bottled gatorade, fresh fruit of all kinds, even freezies,..WOW

I was looking for a spring marathon close to home, and I had heard good things about Fargo. I can now confirm that they do a great job putting on this race! There was ample water stops, Gu at the right spots, and friendly race marshals. Starting and ending the race in the Fargodome means lots of convenience. There were no lines for the bathroom and plenty of time to stretch out afterwards. The pre- and post-race shuttles were easy and convenient. I will admit, I wasn’t expecting much as far as scenery, but the course goes through some nice neighborhoods, and running through the college campuses was a lot of fun. It was a hot day for running a marathon, but there were plenty of mist-ers and kids with Super Soakers. Finally, the spectators, volunteers, and just about everyone else I met were very friendly and supportive. This really is a well-run marathon and worth the trip. Nice job, Fargo/Moorhead, and thanks for a great experience!

You have got to try the Fargo Marathon! This race has evolved into quite the community event that appeals to all ages and levels of fitness. Great and fast course, great entertainment and mega supportive spectators lining every straight-away and turn, plenty of drink, Gu and first aid stations along the way. The finish is pretty darn spectacular as you run into the Fargo Dome and view yourself finish on the jumbo-tron. Post race food and drink is plentiful and easily accessable. The metals are pretty swanky too! Highly recommend!
