This race used to be held at UF (I did it for 3 different years there). I skipped it for a few years, and did other races, (mostly because it’s never advertised heavily, and I forget it’s a thing) but I was happy to come back and run in 2019. The race is now at Depot Park, downtown, and it’s a beautiful course (I do parkruns here every Saturday, come join us!). The only swag you get is a basic tee, but even as a bling whore, I’m totally ok with that… the money goes towards veterans, and I’d rather they donate more money, than spend it on medals.
The route is a basic trip around the lake, down the trail, and then back to the finish. The scenery is pretty, but if you run here on a daily basis, its “same ol, same ol.” The finish line was basically a piece of tape and a few flags. Afterward, there were a few tables of snacks, and Trader Joes was there to give out some samples, but all in all this is a very low-key race. I love it!
