The Town of Stratford is very fortunate indeed to be one of the few towns or cities in the nation to have its very own forest. Roosevelt Forest was set up during the depression in the 1930’s. This beautiful 401 acre forest is part of the town’s excellent park system. The park was established to provide recreational opportunities for townspeople, and to protect the watershed, wildlife and beauty of this fine example of mixed deciduous forest. Neatly nestled away, in North Stratford, the forest will be brought to life with the running of the Enchanted Forest Ultra Run!
The Ultra run will last 6 hours from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. All runners, joggers, hikers and walkers are invited to participate in this very friendly event; do as many miles or hours, as you wish. Experience on a trail is mandatory for safety, so a little practice is warranted. There will be an award for first, second and third overall and first male and female in the category of senior/master or 55 years of age and older (may adjust man or woman to 50+) with most miles completed. Also, an Ultra medal for anyone participating for 4 or more hours without any stop over 15 minutes. You will travel over a single and double track trail with very little elevation on a circuit of about 3.5miles. There will be 2 out and backs and this will aid in a relatively fast course for a trail ultra. Dunkin’ Donuts bagels, donuts and coffee to start with pizza at noon. Amped Fuel and Gu hourly. You must be at least 18 years of age.
A charitable portion of this race will go to the Roosevelt Forest Trail Commission, the Stratford EMS.
A very important thing to note is this is limited to only 50 participants, so register quickly and reserve your spot to be enchanted by the forest. Register early and save, however it is non-refundable because of cost endured and to keep the integrity of the race. Run, jog, hike or walk, or crawl you have up to 6 hours to do your best!
Remember to look for the pixies, trolls and unicorns!
