Picking up my bib and T-shirt was a relatively slow process, and the lady I worked with seemed over-whelmed and slightly confused.
In the morning, we were bused out of Lincoln to a forest service road miles from town. A line on the pavement served as the start, and we were off into the mountains.
After about 2 miles of pavement, we entered a dirt road that climbed several hundred feet into the mountains. The climbs were fairly tough and a good workout. At the top, there was an aid station, if you want to call it that. Only had water, and it was self serve.
The next four miles or so were steeply downhill on the same gravel road. The final two miles were straight, leading back into Lincoln.
This is only the second year this race has been put on, but it needs work to continue I believe.
If you want a wilderness experience half marathon, this is it! Just remember it is very basic, and the production of the race needs some tending to.
Very scenic but needs work
