The race was wonderful and the setting is gorgeous. It was a great race to be my first 5k. There were some good and some bad points to the race.
The event brite sent several conflicting emails about how the event was being conducted. The first email said we could have a picnic afterward on the Hess property, then another email was sent saying we couldn’t bring outside food or liquor. There were other conflicting emails about the logistics of the run.
When we got to the winery, everything went smoothly with checking in. The warm up was fun despite the sound system being terrible. The race was fun and the course was great. The hess winery property is beautiful place to have a race.
Once we finished the race there were some disappointments. We were supposed to have four tastings of wine. After waiting in a long line we were told that we couldn’t have four wine tastings. We had a choice of two low end wines to drink. The pour of wine was generous, but very disappointing that we didn’t have the four tastings we were promised to have. The people who were pouring the wine were very rude about the tastings.
There was a contest for costumes that groups wore. We didn’t know that there was a contest because we would have entered it. We also would have tried even harder on our costumes.
We felt like we’re rushed out of Hess winery. They wanted us to leave right away at 11am so that Hess winery can continue with their business.
