The Destin Beach Ultra Runs were founded in 2010 as the Destin 50 Beach Ultra, by Zane Holscher, to raise funds for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). Friends at the Ft Walton Beach Sailfish Club introduced Zane to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation when he moved with the military to the Destin area in 2007. As he learned more about the SOWF and how it helped children like the son of his fallen US Air Force Academy classmate, Derek Argel, Zane was on a mission to aid the SOWF. To date, our runners have raised over $350,000 for the SOWF.
Since 2011 we have provided the best of experiences for our athletes. From the moment you arrive at check in, through the catered aid stations, until you sit down with a cold drink to rest your weary legs, we strive to provide each runner with the most perfect race experience possible. We do this because all of our runners, from first to last, military or civilian, become part of our special operations family on this weekend.
Each year our family of runners raise thousands of dollars to educate the children of our fallen special operations brothers and sisters. This mission is personal for me. As your race director I also take the mission of helping you achieve all your goals personally.
