The run is on a paved road that runs west out of Surprise, AZ. Although it appeared flat, most of the course is either gradual up or down. The race started promptly and was well managed. It was a beautiful, cool morning with nice scenery of the sun rising over the mountains and desert.

First race for me since pandemic so I think I was mostly happy to be out running at all and loved the nice crisp temps of the desert winter morning. … MORE
First race for me since pandemic so I think I was mostly happy to be out running at all and loved the nice crisp temps of the desert winter morning. Packet pick up was smoothly run the morning of- with nice long sleeve tech shirts and a design I’ll actually wear. Course was out and back on shoulder of road with gradual incline/decline that was hardly noticeable. Beautiful desert landscape, but hardly anyone out there cheering (on account of small race and some Covid measures still in place). Medals were okay- awards were mailed out afterwords. Not over the top, but simple and easy. Would run again for fun if I were already in the area.
