Everything about this race was great, starting with the Expo, the best I have ever attended so many vendors and the “Beer Garden”. Race day, the organization of delivering the runners to the start line was impeccable, the race course was beautiful, full of entertainment and crowd encouragement, and the after party was nice. Cons: need more photographers and it was not easy to find the water and snacks at the end of the race.

Don’t let the bridge climb scare you, the views are worth it! But watch out for the expansion joints in the bridge. The expo was huge for a 10k. The concourse support was good with plenty of water stops and music- especially once you get along king street. Our medals were delayed but the race will be shipping them out (for free!). The shirt is sort thin cotton. The after party was huge- but no beer tent. Overall great race and will def do it again.

Great production. Very organized for such a big event. Great course with a very challenging couple of miles climbing that bridge! Worth it! Great after party in beautiful, charming Charleston! I was able to have my race packet mailed, which saved a lot of time/a trip to pick it up. I would love to see the convention next time though.

If you are used to running hills, this course will be a piece of cake! I know a lot of people are intimidated by the bridge but it really is the only elevation and is a steady incline. I remember being so worried about it but between the views and the amount of people, it was so easy.

The event is run very smoothly but planning beforehand is definitely important! Make sure you know how you are getting to and from the start line – they generally make you decide when registering.

The views are spectacular. The energy is amazing. You can’t go wrong! I was a little disappointed in the 2021 medal but that’s not that big of a deal. Definitely encourage everyone to run this at least once!

This was a race I had heard about years ago and had always wanted to do it. I love Charleston and running that huge bridge seemed like a fun idea. I had a blast! This is not a race I would do for time but just for fun and I had a lot of fun! It was like a huge party or moving festival. There were plenty of bands along the route and aid stations. The scenery and support are top notch and everything was very organized. The expo was amazing. I will be doing this race again!

This race is HUGE! And very scenic. I loved it! There are a ton of people and a lot of walkers! It was hard to find a way to run most of the time. This bridge is spectacular. I swear the 6.2 miles went so fast. Excellent organization. Just a lot of waiting in the beginning for the last corrals. As a slower runner I usually get the finish line to myself, not in this race. I crossed with 20 other people. Lots of entertainment along route, views are amazing, post race was lots of fun. Tons of food! This one is one of my top races to date. On the humid side but nice.

This race is epic in size, visuals, experience, challenge and scope. There are over 20,000 runners in this race every year and over a dozen corrals based upon your expected finishing time. The course is USATF certified and chip-timed. If you have not done hill training before this race, you are in for a world of hurt, as the 3rd mile is entirely up hill at about a 5% grade. I am a very experienced racer and this hill kicked my butt even after training on it for a couple of months. Once you get to the top, and you have a couple of miles downhill, you would think it is easy but you are tired from running up the hill and it is not so much. Once you get to the finish line, the party begins, and there is a lot of free food, water, etc. This race was more of a bucket list item for me than something I would like to run every year – a little too tough for me! Enjoy!

What a great race! The scenery can’t be beat. The course is challenging but you don’t really notice that you are going uphill. I managed to get a PR at this race. The only downside is the after party. Finding the food was confusing and not clearly marked. By the time I found it, most of the good stuff was gone. But the on course support, the cheers from the crowds, the community support… all outstanding!

Running over the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge was breathtaking. The run was relatively flat (with the exception of bridge). The run through town was a few degrees hotter due to the number of bodies packed into the narrow streets and the tall buildings. The Finish Line Festival was a joke-too many bodies packed like sardines in a very small space. Bus transportation was AWESOME. Nice medal and t-shirt. Recommend you run this race at least once.

It’s always awesome running over the Arthur Ravenel Bridge. It’s amazingly beautiful, just you and 32,000 other runners. As a local, I do it most years. For out-of-state, I would recommend doing it at least once. It’s very well organized, only issue is huge crowds of people at the Finish Festival. It becomes an incentive to run faster to finish earlier to avoid the huge crowds.

As someone who prefers smaller races, the 30K+ runner aspect had scared me from running this for several years despite being a local race. However, this race was run very efficiently, with plenty of bus locations to get you to/from Mount Pleasant (start) and downtown Charleston (finish). This is best run with friends, though! The post-race food and entertainment is great, and I highly recommend the views of Charleston from the Ravenel Bridge and through downtown. The only negative was that they had out-of-town bus drivers for the shuttles who didn’t know their way around town and sometimes got lost.

Running over the Arthur Ravenel bridge is always a beautiful sight, that takes away the struggle (somewhat!) of the 5% incline up. You are surrounded by almost 40,000 people which can be good and bad. Good because there are tons of people who are struggling with you, bad because it is just way too crowded.

The Cooper River Bridge Run is a race that Charleston residents love to hate. It is expensive, and it brings tourists to our city to run a bridge that we can run any time on the pedestrian lane. I do run it on a regular basis but participated in the race for the first time this year.

I had a great race. I was able to start in the competitive corral (45 minute 10K) so I did not experience a crowd at the start. If you are not in Corral A, the competitive corral, or the elite (sub 40) corral, it is very crowded. Spectators line the streets of Mt Pleasant and downtown, so I felt like an elite with so many people cheering for us.

This year’s race was very well produced, but in years past, there have been late starts. Also, free beer after the race has been eliminated in favor of a free beer at the race expo (who wants a beer at the expo?). The shirts are cotton.

Locals may not like the run, but it defines Charleston as a running community. So many people start running due to the CRBR and many *do* keep running. Running or walking over the bridge in this race is a bucket list item for many people. It’s something every local should do at least once, but it’s up to you if you want to do it more than that. It was fun for me but not a must-do.

I ran the CRBR all 4 years of college with my best friend whom I met at CofC. It was a great tradition and some of my favorite memories. Run with your phone/camera. We loved documenting the sites and scenes along the way. The crowds are a little unreal. If you’re a walker, please start in the back. We ran in the under an hour group ever year, and before we even hit the bridge people would be walking in front of us. It gets VERY congested! Tons of people out cheerleading though which is always fun.
