I really enjoyed this race. I’m not a huge fan of loops but the course varied enough along the river that it didn’t get too repetitive. They include a fun challenge to relay a stuffed santa from water stop to water stop for a little additional prize at the end which really had me paying attention to try and keep tabs on his position.
With such a good post-race party including Ice cream, drinks and plenty of snacks in a great location downtown, I was surprised it was <300 runners. If you are looking for a fun and friendly race in Indiana with a pretty flat and fast course, this would be a great option.

I really enjoyed this race. I’m not a huge fan of loops but the course varied enough along the river that it didn’t get too repetitive. They include a fun challenge to relay a stuffed santa from water stop to water stop for a little additional prize at the end which really had me paying attention to try and keep tabs on his position.

This was a very fun race, I enjoyed it and had a good time. The course was beautiful. The one thing that could be improved significantly is for the medal to be more of a top notch medal like the most popular half marathon in Indiana. I really did enjoy the race and don’t want to say anything negative, and would just like to add a suggestion that could be a improvement

What a hot and humid day in Indy! The course was unsettled until just a few days prior to the event due to heavy construction and road closures in downtown Indianapolis. The event took place in a city park and ran past the NCAA building, a museum, the zoo, and along the river. There were some excellent views of the city along the river, and the backside of course was more densely wooded, which was a nice relief from the temperatures. The course itself was not difficulty – flat and what would have been a fast run. However, the humidity really slowed me down after mile two and I struggled much of the run. From what I heard the course has changed over the years, but I liked the layout they had this year. The half marathon was two loops around the park and easy to navigate. The medal was impressive in that it was large and lit up in a flashing series of lights.

It is quite hot in July but the majority of the course is shaded. Tasty flavored popsicle, water, and Gatorade are plenty along the course. Two hours just fly by quickly. Awesome volunteers in Santa costumes. I’d love to go back next year.

Race is mostly on cement and asphalt trail along canal and near river. Plenty of water/gatorade stops. Markers at most miles. The shirt and medal go with the theme, but disappointed that the folks at waterstops weren’t Christmas themed. Due to some changes day before race, the start and finish were not at the same place, and were not too easy to find. Results posted next day. Free photos.
Just plain fun

I thought we were crazy to get up at 4:30 and drive 75 miles to a 7am start but we had a blast. Doing the 5K we finished in time to watch the half runners come in, just below our brunch perch at the brewery. 830 am beer and brunch after a fun run was perfect! Medal has Christmas lights on it. Will definitely do again!
