This was the 6th annual event by this heart failure awareness organization. However, it was its first time in Sacramento. Land Park is a popular venue for Sacramento races. Bib and shirt pickup were smooth. There was a free bike valet area. The course was flat; one loop for the 5K and two loops for the 10K. Dogs and strollers were allowed. My GPS watch registered 3.01 miles, a bit short of 5K. There may have been 10 vendor booths, including a radio station and a “waffle truck” with food items for sale. There were water bottles handed out with the swag bags and finisher medals. This simple event is family-run and it’s worthy cause drew me to register. To me, it felt more like a morning training run than a timed event. And that is just fine.
