Catharine Valley Half

The Catharine Valley Half features a scenic course along the Catharine Valley rail trail in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country. The course uses an out-back format from Montour Falls to Millport along the Catharine Valley Trail. Starting from the BC Cate Elementary School in Montour Falls, it does a clockwise loop through Montour before joining and running south on the Catharine Valley Trail to Millport. From the turnaround it heads back the way it came including a clockwise loop in the village of Montour Falls before finishing where it started at BC Cate Elementary.

The surface is packed cinder w/ pavement through Montour. It’s flat to slightly down for the first two miles, then climbs gradually to the turnaround point shy of Millport. Hopefully you’ll more than make up for the gradual ascent as you’ll have miles of shaded fast runable downhill on the return. It’ll hopefully be a pretty fast course, good for both first-timers and those looking for a near-PR time.

Aid stations will have water and Tailwind, and some gels at the turnaround. Aid stations are spaced at 2.3, 4.7, 6.5, 8., and 10.7 miles.
