Carson Canyons Half and 1/2 Half has become Carson Canyons Super K Trail Runs. All races will start near the lower parking lot of Western Nevada College.
5K: Loop course on double track, jeep road and single track around the mouth of Ash Canyon.
10K: Follows the first mile and a half of the 5K then breaks off to ascend into the canyon via the creek trail to the north trailhead of Ash-Kings connector and the only aid station on the 10K course. From there the course jumps right back onto single track for a few hundred feet of additional climbing before hitting the highest point 3.7 miles into the course. After that, it is basically all downhill finish back at the college. Total climbing 1000′, total distance 6.6 miles.
21K: The first 3 miles of the course are on pavement. From the start runners will enter onto the V&T bike path south crossing Ash Canyon Road onto Longview Way. The course follows Longview Way for ~1 mile then turning right onto West Kings Canyon Road. This is where the climbing starts. Runners continue on Kings Canyon Road uphill for ~1 mile on pavement before coming to the Waterfall Trailhead aid station and entering onto single track heading uphill on the waterfall trail to north kings trail. After 2 miles of sometimes steep climbing with some amazing views, the course turns right on the Ash-Kings connector trail. The Ash-Kings connector trail is truly a Carson City gem that gives you the experience of high alpine running with marvelous views of Carson and several other high desert valleys below. After about 3/4 of a mile of additional climbing on this trail runners will hit the high point of the course at about 6700′ and begin their 4.5 mile descent down to Ash Canyon and the second aid station. After a short uphill climb, the last 3 miles of running are downhill on single track.This course has 2300′ of total elevation gain, 2000′ of it is between miles 2-6.
30K: The first 2 miles of this course is on pavement. From the start runners will enter onto the V&T bike path south crossing Ash Canyon Road onto Longview Way. The course follows Longview Way for ~1 mile. The 30K course then crosses Kings Canyon Road onto the longview canyon trail for 2 miles of single track. This trail ends onto a jeep road where runners will turn right, drop down a steep ravine, then climb up to the” Green Gate” at the junction of Kings Canyon. The course then turns right and heads downhill for .8 miles to the first aid station at the waterfall trailhead reconnecting with the 21K course. The course then enters onto single track heading uphill on the waterfall trail to the north kings trail. After 2 miles of sometimes steep climbing with some amazing views, the course turns right on the Ash-Kings connector trail. The Ash-Kings connector trail is truly a Carson City gem that gives you the experience of high alpine running with marvelous views of Carson and several other high desert valleys below. After about 3/4 of a mile of additional climbing on this trail runners will hit the high point of the course at about 6800′ and begin their 4.5 mile descent down to Ash Canyon and the second aid station. The final 5.5 miles of the course are all on single track with the first mile being uphill.
