Stayed on site at the Canaan Valley, Resort and conference center. It is very convenient as the race starts and ends just steps from the hotel doors. The entire race is run on the property which is also a West Virginia state park. Most of it is run on the golf course. This course features some serious hills and two loops. I’m not the biggest fan of loops but overall it was good. The weather however, was not cooperative. 85 and beautiful yesterday but today 52° on the start and by mile 5 1/2 it was raining and sleeting. Cute metal somewhat underwhelming, but kind of matches the wildness of West Virginia. It’s made of pottery.

Be prepared for some hills! My hamstrings were sore from a workout the day before and I had to walk a few hills because of that. The course was a mix of paved, gravel roads and a paved golf cart path. Staff was great and the views were too!
