EVENT DISCONTINUED. From race website: “It has been an absolutely fantastic four years of running on the Great Allegheny Passage and the wonderful Brush Tunnel. Frank and Mike of Altis Endurance Sports absolutely love to conduct the Brush Tunnel Marathon and Half Marathon. However, this event is being sidelined for three to four years due to our 9-5 jobs and to allow Altis Endurance Sports to pursue other race directing options.”

The Brush Tunnel Marathon and Half Marathon will take place in its entirety in Maryland on the outstanding Great Allegheny Passage (GAP). The course consists of 1.31 miles of the crushed stone surfaced Great Allegheny Passage. Marathon runners run 10 out-and-backs of the course, and the half marathon runners run five out-and-backs of the course. Half marathon runners will run through the 914 foot long Brush Tunnel 10 times, and the marathon runners will run through the tunnel 20 times. The course is not flat, but the elevation gain and loss is all gradual. The half marathon has 1425 feet of gain and loss, and the marathon has 2850 feet of gain and loss. Feel free to enjoy the views while running the race!
If you like tunnels, this is the marathon course for you!
This race will be the first event in the Mid-Atlantic Marathon and Half Marathon Series. The other events in the Series are the GAP Marathon and Half, the GAP Trestles Marathon and Half, the Barnum Rail Trail Marathon and Half, and the Hancock Marathon and Half. The five races in the series take place – in order – in MD, MD, PA, WV, and MD. Run one, some, or all of these great trail races.
