The origin of the Bow Lake Dam 15K & 5K Race to Cure Cystic Fibrosis began the day after eight friends gathered to run in or support a marathon in the Fall of 2008. At breakfast the morning after the race, tired and sore but exhilarated by the previous day’s excitement and joy, the soon-to-be committee brainstormed a way in which they could stretch the benefits of training to reach beyond themselves.
Personally touched by a mutual friend’s daughter who lives with the challenges of Cystic Fibrosis, our new committee became determined to plan, organize, and initiate a local race to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The “Bow Lake Dam 15K/5K” is the result of that brainstorm.
Our Bow Lake crew has grown to become an even bigger team over the past 9 years and with each new year we hope to make the Bow Lake Dam Race to Cure CF bigger and better!
The proceeds of this event will go entirely to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is “to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care. Adding Tomorrows and Living Today.”

This race is gun timed and they get going in a hurry so be ready. The course runs around BOW lake NH and is scenic. Nice local crowd that supports! There is a killer hill on mile 5 and the rest is rolling hills. The reason I ran this race is that I have not seen 15 K’s in NH or the Northeast so I thought cool…The plus was the after race meal and free music…very good! The swag was weak…but I don’t really care about that as it was a great charity event. Would do it again! Only I would prepare for that mile long climb on mile 5…gheez.
