The Blood Rock 100 and 50 Mile race are produced by Southeastern Trail Runs and will take place at Oak Mountain State Park and will start and end at the Cabins on Lake Tranquility located on Cabin Rd. We have reserved all 10 Cabins for the race and they are available to rent Blood Rock weekend. We have a two night minimum, Friday and Saturday night. Contact Southeastern Trial Runs to reserve a cabin for the weekend. Additional nights may be rented through the park.
Blood Rock 100 will take place at Oak Mountain State Park, starting and ending at the Cabins on Tranquility Lake. The 100 Mile Race will start at 12:00 Noon, Friday, December 3rd. Aid stations distances range from 3 to 7 miles apart. The Cutoff for the 100 Mile Race will be 40 Hours. Due to the extremely difficult and remote nature of the backcountry sections of Blood Rock, we must enforce mandatory cutoffs.
Blood Rock 50 Mile will also take place at Oak Mountain State Park, starting and ending at the Cabins on Tranquility Lake. The start will be at 8:00 AM Saturday. The course will be a single 55K Loop, returning to the Cabins Aid Station at the Start/Finish. 50 milers will then repeat the north loop of the course to finish back at the Cabins. About 20 miles of the 50 will be on very difficult backcountry trails with some of the steepest climbs in the southeast.
The Blood Rock 25 & 55K start at 8:00 AM Saturday. The course for both races will be the same for the first 15.2 Mile, the north loop, back to the Cabin Finish and Aid Station. After the aid station at The Cabins, 55K runners will run the 18.9 mile south loop, and return to the Cabins and the finish. Runners in both races will be on very difficult backcountry trails with some of the steepest climbs in the southeast during this first section of the Blood Rock race. 25 and 55K Runners my NOT have pacers or dropbags.

This was the hardest race I’ve ever “run”. The course is extremely difficult with very very steep climbs. I had trained to run the 50k, but I wasn’t prepared for the terrain and dropped down to the 25k. It was very difficult, but I’m ready to go back and crush it next year.
The production was great, the race director is very nice and organized and passionate about what he does. The volunteers were friendly and encouraging.
