I wanted to knock a Delaware off my 50 states list so after doing the Rocky Run in Philly Saturday, so I went to Wilmington, DE on Sunday and ran this 5K. It had great volunteers running it and when I found a problem with my registration, they fixed it immediately.
The race runs through some pretty Marshaland and is an out and back. We started on a roadway then turned onto a paved trail and and finally a boardwalk over the water at the Marsh. It is a fast course and I felt good about my time even though it was not a PR for me.
There were medals for the first 200 registered but i registered at the last minute so I did n ot receive one. Discover Bank is a sponsor and they were giving away sunglasses and cowbells. A local restaurant served up seafood nachos and cans of beer. The race volunteers also handed out big soft pretzels, chocolate milk and water. There was also a food truck for those who wanted a more substantial meal.
I got third in my AG and received a nice Mug as a souvenier. This is a well run local race to help fund anti child abuse initiatives. Run it, you won’t be disappointed!
Easy Course, Good Food!
