Barkin’ Dog Duathlon

The Barkin’ Dog Duathlon celebrates 24 years as the kickoff race for the summer multisport season! The Barkin’ Dog is Colorado’s largest duathlon, and consistently one of the largest duathlons in the Western United States.

This race attracts some of the top pros in the country as well as a whole slew of first-time multisport athletes trying something different. If you can finish a 5K, you can complete a duathlon!

Run courses follow scenic park paths. Long course athletes will run an opening 5k followed by a 30k bike ride. A second 5K run will follow the bike. Short course athletes will start with a 1.2 mile out & back run on Run-1. Run-2 will be the same 5k course as the long course athletes.

The bike course will take riders west through the park to the Lake Loop, then east to the Tower Loop, then back to the Smoky Hill transition area. Short course athletes will ride one lap of the course, and long course athletes will ride two laps. Each lap is 15k (9.3 miles) in length.

Participants can choose from the standard 5K Run, 30K Bike, 5K Run event or the short course which challenges participants with a 1.2 Mile Run, 9.3 Mile Bike, 5K Run.
