The Crescent City Classic 10K road race is held in New Orleans on the Saturday before Easter Sunday each year. For 40+ years, it has combined world class competition, amateur participation and great fun for all participants. Starting in 1979 with 902 participants, the Crescent City Classic has grown to become the preeminent fitness event in Louisiana.
This fast, point-to-point 6.2 mile course is USAT&F sanctioned and certified. It starts in front of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, proceeds down Poydras, bears left on Convention Center Blvd. and then left onto Canal St. The course continues onto N Peters St. where it passes historical Jackson Square. Participants run through the French Quarter, past Cafe Du Monde and the French Market, before taking a left on Esplanade Ave. The CCC10K course continues down beautiful Esplanade Ave. to the front of New Orleans City Park on City Park Ave. The remainder of the course takes place inside City Park – passing by Storyland before finishing on Lelong Ave. in front of the New Orleans Museum of Art.
The Classic has been praised in every major running publication as “one of America’s fastest 10Ks”, “the originator of the party race”, “an Easter Weekend tradition that should never be missed” and “a great race, on a beautiful course in America’s most unique city”.
This Easter Weekend Tradition is now, along with Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, one of New Orleans signature events.
Each year, over 20,000 people gather in Downtown New Orleans for an event that attracts everyone from international Elite Athletes to those who walk the entire route carrying cocktails or wearing bunny suits. Young, old, fit and not so, the Crescent City Classic was the first 10k to be televised nationally, and is the most fun you can have over 6.2 miles.

This was my second year running this race and I enjoyed it just as much as I did last year and I’ll be returning next year! The atmosphere and the energy of the entire event is what makes it fun. Everyone comes out regardless of their run ability. The scenery is great especially if you love historical New Orleans, the after race party is GREAT! this race has so many people in attendance!

This was my first and won’t be my last! I loved this race, the energy was high, everyone was so positive and happy in true New Orleans fashion. The course wasn’t bad, they also provided transportation to and from the start. The finisher party was AMAZING!! the food was sooooo good, and it was so many people. It felt like I was at a festival instead of a race finisher party. I really enjoyed this race. My time could’ve been faster, but my 13 year old came with me and she’s not a runner, however, that’s also the beauty of this race, it’s for all stages of fitness.

This race has been around for a long time. There were 8000+ participants in 2022-lots of walkers. Scenic course, shady, the temperatures were moderate but beware of NOLA humidity. Started at the SuperDome, finished in NOLA City Park. Nice post-race festival. It is a point-to-point race. Makes for a fun weekend as NOLA as lots to see and do.

Unlimited beer at the expo, unlimited beer at the after party, lots of costumes (I ran by Prince) and lots of dranks on the route (shots, beer, mimosas, etc). Well organized and lots of supporters/cheering on the route. It was the most fun I’ve ever had at a race, I mean, it’s NOLA. The medal was kinda “meh” but all is forgiven when you have so much fun!
One of the best 10ks around
