ABP Southhampton Marathon is a great alternative in the UK for those who didnt get a spot at the London marathon – like me. Southhampton (about 70min by car south west of London) is known for the harbour and university. the race (10k, half and full) had about 7k runners and went perfectly smooth. Race packs where shipped ahead of time, changing facilities and bag storage near the start/ finish area and I loved the finishers t-shirt with the union jack on both arms. the course per se leads through different neighbourhoods, along the river, through parks- and I really enjoyed light uphills and downhills. Great atmosphere with plenty of people cheering. Definitly a good alternative and not “just a gap filler” for London!
