Beautiful run that is full of stunning vistas. Did not feel like a city run as it was primarily along the shoreline, across the GG bridge and through parks. Plenty of drink stops. The start had few volunteers and very little signage; I had to dump my drop bag in the trash, as I could not find a drop bag point.

Superbly organised for over 36,000 runners. Very glad to have entered and run. About 10 degrees on the day, which helped. Great fellow runners and watching crowd. Lots of lops so constantly see those ahead and behind,
which I am not a fan of. Tokyo has some great sites but the route I primarily a concentre and neon jungle with not using some of the spectacles you could see. So a great run just not an iconic run.

Plenty of refreshment stops. Easy flat run with only two bridges. A good crowd and well orgaised. Starts at 05:30 to avoid the eat but still 32 degress and 98% humidity. Not a run for secnery, essentially in a new ruban area where traffic is limited.

A very tough race, with 3000+ metres of climb. I missed a turn and added an unnecessary 500 metres beyond that. Based in the New Territories and includes a climb of Hong Kong’s highest peak (Tai Mo Shan). The race mostly follows the Maclehose trail (stage 4 Ma On Shan national park) along ridges providing great views of HK and the islands. The terrain under foot is good and is possible to run down and up (if willing). The weather was perfect, bright, sunny and 25 degrees. The last 2 hours were in the dark and the organisers do enforce mandatory equipment.

Georgeous temperature (approx 23 degrees) and bright subshine all day. But very little running possible for me. Steep ascent and the descent was a mix of rocks large and small making the downhill a long and after so long a rather dull trek. Also once appraaching the summit you join swarms of tourists who reach by bus so you need to weave in and out. Nice scenary but not awesome, no supporters, not much of a start and finish, all very low key.

The French know how to have a great time. Amazing production with 20 wine stops as you run through various Chateaus. Beyond wine the normal stops you would imagine plus great food; steaks, oysters and more. A fun, relaxing run with no hills to worry about running through vineyards in the sunshine and 22 degrees. Oh and in fancy dress. Even the finish has wine, food and beer. A beautiful bucket list run.

This remains the most beautiful run (well hike) I have participated in. Stunning rice terraces, jungle, mountains and all round landscapes. Damn tough, most too tough to run (60% of the course). Organisers put on drinks every 6 km as the race started at 5.15am and 26 degrees, but quickly rose to 38 degrees. About 1850 meteres of climb, some of it rather mean. Supremely well organised.

A tough coastal run leading to Table Cape, included 1,900m of climb although there were no serious inclines. A great excuse to visit Tasmania! I traversed sand, bitumen for 2k, ploughed fields, seaweed, volcanic looking rock pools, stones, boulders, pine needles, bog, cushion like earth, fallen leaves, you named it and it was underfoot. All the time crisscrossing from cliff top to sea and back with some stunning views and near silence. Well organised with well stoked refreshments on route. A long day but a pleasant 20 to 25 degrees throughout the run (and walk).

Very well organised run with stunning scenery at every turn. Great running weather with clear skies, starting at 11 degrees and reaching 18 by midday. A pretty tough with overall climbs of 1,900m. Cherry trees had just begun blossoming. Delightfully the local residents turn out in force to cheer runners on.

The race is very well organised, with theh first half being through old Macau and includes 2 stuning and different bridge runs. The 2nd half is a little repetitive along Cotai strip. Temperature was around 22 degrees with a constant plaasant cool breeze. Refreshment stations were very frequent and very well stocked. I was very pleasantly suprised by this marathon.

I was very lucky with the temperature from 18 degress to perhaps mid 20s by the finish, this made the run very comfortbale. A few tough hills but not a mountain run, a very pleasant trail. Extremely well organised race, good course, plentiful refreshment stops, excelelnt execution.

Not taxis or motirbike taxis around so hard (and hence unnecessarily expensive) to get between hotel and race venue although I was only 7km away. Also meant I missed the race briefing which adds a penalty of 30 mins (not included in my time here :).

Starts at 4.30 to avoid heat . A miserable route except for the first 2 kms. Mostly along a multi lane road and back again for the first 21k ith only one lane closed to traffic. Then 10K along a busy street dodging traffic. The last 10ks are soul destroying, loops around a dull, shade-less (Thu Thiem) a new urban area under development. Drink stops are plentiful throughout the course, with volunteers every few kilometres to cheer you along on the first half – after which the traffic is too dreadful even for the volunteers.

Whilst much of the run is on a highway through west kowloon, it was suprisingly pleasant. With bright sunshine and 13 degrees the conditions were perfect. Several very long bridges and tunnels add some elevation. The home stretch along the harbour front on HK island was great, but collided with shorter distance runners who provided a human traffic jam when you least expect it. If i could have run the last 7k faster it would have been impossible to do so. A very well organised event for all logistics.

My previous marathons have all been Asian city based. Whilst I have run some mountain trails in Dalat and Sapa Vietnam, none compare. This marathon is simply breath taking, every corner you turn offers a new stunning panorama. With under 200 participants it is a very personal and fun experience. I ran the first half with my 14 year old daughter and as she approached mile 20, I reminded her of how lucky we were to be here, to be healthy and to be able to run in such a incredible environment. In previous marathons the last few miles are a mental challenge, here the experience is far more serene as the mental duress is extinguished by the splendor if the mountain scenery.
