This was the third race in the series and after taking second in the first two it was nice not to have any fresh legs. Unlike the first two courses, this course was not an out and back. The course was on the highway and then up through some dirt hills. The day was slightly overcast which helped greatly. The race organizers do a great job making sure there was water and gels every three miles. Highly recommend running this series if you are working on all 50 or just running one.

Day 2 of the race series. This course was the lesser of the three races. Out and back on a country road, it felt a little lonely but that could have also been because it was the second day. The miles were marked well and the aid stations were fully stocked. The race directors go above and beyond to make sure everyone finishes.

This was the first race in the series and after traveling 15 hours it was great to start running. The race was an out and back on rolling hills and starting the race at 6:00 am was definitely a big help to skip the heat of the day. The hardest part of the race was on the return trip was running into and through the overwhelming number of half marathoners (at times they were walking 8 across the road). But the experience was great and well put together.

The headline for this race; These Ain’t no Pansy Big City Races lives up to its billing. The aid stations are sparce, but the skyline isn’t. The view was just breathtaking as the altitude. Don’t worry about the race clock, instead enjoy where you are. I have ran many races where your pace and the clock are the focus of the race, but this was different. I took time to just soak everything in.
