Great course during the early spring months. We had nice misty, cool weather (though there was some headwind in the middle miles). The race was well organized: easy packet pickup, large finish area for spectators and parking. I stayed in Calistoga so I was able to get dropped off just 1/2 mile from the start about 30mins prior to the start.. and that was earlier than needed, since it was such a small race. Plenty of people cheering at the crossroads (don’t listen to what the website says – plenty of parking options for people to come cheer you on) with some quiet miles in between. (I liked that). There seemed to be plenty of aid stations, and porta potties too (though I didn’t use those). The ‘special needs’ aid table seemed well organized and easy enough to use. Overall great race.

This is a good fast course, due to some middle downhill miles that allow for some recovery prior to getting out on the Great Hwy. You get your bib mailed to you so no packet pickup needed, though you can pick up your bib on race morning as well. Well organized bag check. I wasn’t a big fan of the new 10k course interspersed with the half marathon. It made so the half marathoners came upon slower 10k runners at various points during the first 6 miles. It would have been better to keep them all together until the 10k runners split off for good. Great to get mylar blankets at the finish. The shirts this year were some kind of cotton blend and were quite cheap looking (plus a very blah grey color) but typically the shirts are pretty good.
Overall, a great early season race.

CIM is a well organized race. I’m always amazed that they get all those runners from downtown to the start – and all the buses they use to do it. It was great to be able to stay on (any) bus and stay warm until closer to the start. Tons of porta potties. Lots of crowd support. The first 5miles are the most downhill miles and can hurt your quads if you aren’t trained for it. Train for downhill and this can be a very fast course.

This is a flat fast course to get a PR. It is crowded at the start so pick your spot accordingly. Unfortunately people tend to get up front even though they are going to be much slower, so the start is crowded. But people spread out within the first straightaway and then there is plenty of space. Lots of turns so be careful not to do too many extra yards. The finish area is great with lots of post race goodies to grab. Nice shirt and huge medal.

This was a well organized race, with some great swag. I loved the tech zip long sleeve shirt. The bag was nice too, though I haven’t used it much. Not enough porta potties at the start (but when are there ever?) but the rest of the race was well done. It’s a fairly flat course, so you can get a good time here if trained properly. There didn’t seem to be much post race food (that was free), but there were vendors with food for sale.
