About Me

  • Running club(s):

    Team rwb, moms run this town

  • Rave race:

    Rocket city marathon

  • Race that's calling my name:

    Boston marathon

  • I run because:

    I found the joy of running in the military in 2008. I run because I love it, it keeps me healthy, it calms my mind, it makes me a great role model for my children, and because I want to see how much my body can do. Life is so wasted doing what everyone else is doing. I want to do the things no one else is doing.

This race was my first time. You expect your first time to be exciting, sweaty, and sore. Well…let’s just say it ended up as most first times; sore, wet, and exhausted lol I trained for this race for 6 months. I was so excited to hear it was a flat course and that first time marathoners got extra prizes. Come race day and everything was against me. 100% rainfall, 40 degree weather, and a sore foot. But the race directors made this race amazing! I enjoyed every minute! Their happy demeanor and willingness to post videos and information to make sure Runners were ready and happy go above and beyond. I enjoyed the scenery and the spirit teams. Even with all the rain and cold, everyone tried so hard to make it exciting and fun. And they exceeded! The course was relatively flat and even the hill at 19 was not too bad (I trained much higher hills). The views through the rocket and space center was amazing. However a little slick when we hit the trail area with all the mud. They had plenty of cops and volunteers to ensure runners were safe on the streets and to direct us in the right direction. Even as I got close to the end, people were still cheering after 5 hours and saying I was right there. I absolutely loved that the finish was in the von braun center so my four little ones and husband did not have to sit in the cold and rain waiting for me. I ran in crying with a huge smile on my face to see the finish, that I had accomplished it, and to see them yelling “go mommy”. I have ran many races (this was my first full) and this is my favorite thus far! I definitely recommend this for newbies and veterans alike!
