You need to hill train, or this course will be hard to manage. The first 3 miles are somewhat steep up and downs, followed by another 3 miles of more gentle inclines and declines. The 2nd half finishes off with near flats. You’ll hear the finish line before you cross it as you come around the bend and up a small hill into the city. The afterparty is wonderful. As a companion race to teh Flying Pig, this race is also put on by Pig Works. If you do both in the same year, you will receive the Snout and Stinger medal – it’s a huge, heavy addition to the already bursting swag bag you get the day before at the expo (Duke Energy center) and again at the finish line.

A thunderstorm literally started the race and flooded the streets and kept us running in the rain and splashing in puddles for hours.
We could not have had a better time even with perfect weather! In fact, I’d say we had MORE fun in the rain and made better memories because of it.
Despite waterlogged clothing and some medical issues that set back my running mate, we stuck together and both finished the absolute best marathon in the best city!
There is nothing like The Flying Pig weekend in Cincinnati and somehow, every year it gets better!

The hills are a player, but not the main event on this course. The crowd support and police protection along the route is phenomenal and the after party is amazing! The scenery around the city is wonderful this time of year and we were blessed with a sunny, if slightly cool, day. All in all, a perfect half.

I started running again during the Covid shut down and this was my first in person event. i was nervous and excited and a little bit scared, but the organization was amazing. i loved the entire weekend from the swag bag pickup at Duke Energy center to the shorter events on Saturday. The Flying Fur with pups running was the CUTEST thing! The crowd support and aid water/aid stations were amazing. It made me want to come back every year. I even signed up for the FULL marathon for the 25th running in 2023.
