  3. March Lunacy 2018: Tournament Results

Our second annual March Madness Lunacy tournament was a sur-fire classic! The Final Four was an epic confrontation of perennial heavyweights and one spirited underdog. In the end, New York City outlasted fellow World Marathon Major Chicago in a nip-and-tuck battle to set up a championship matchup with Big Sur, which advanced to the final round after closing the book on Little Rock’s Cinderella story.

But when the final buzzer sounded, only one contender could take home the title. So we’re thrilled to congratulate our winner and announce that America’s Rave Race for 2018 is the Big Sur International Marathon! (Read the press release here.)

Congrats also to our four (human) prize winners, one of whom earned a near-perfect 31/32 score in Round One! We’ll post their names here soon.

Hugs and high-fives to everyone who voted in this year’s tournament, we couldn’t do this without your support. And please click below to check out our excellent partners at ROAD iD (simple, stylish IDs for active individuals) and INKnBURN (performance apparel for people who don’t feel the need to blend in with the crowd). Thanks for being part of the madness that is March Lunacy!

(With a few exceptions, seedings are based on the total number of 2017 finishers across all distances, with each of last year’s Final Four races earning the top seed in its respective region.)

Please thank our partners!

HOW IT WORKS: To qualify for and be automatically entered into our random drawing, you must submit your votes for any of the four rounds of the tournament (Round of 64, 16, 4 and 2) from March 12 – April 2, 2018. Voting for the first two rounds closes at 8:00pm PDT/11:00pm EDT on Sunday, March 18 and 25, respectively; the third round ends at 8:00pm PDT on Thursday, March 29 and the final round closes at 8:00pm PDT on Monday, April 2.

Each participant will earn four (4) entries into our random drawing for voting in the first round, three (3) entries for the second round, two (2) entries for the third round and one (1) entry for the final round. Thus, voters can earn up to ten (10) total entries. In addition, the same two prize packages will be awarded at the end of the tournament to the two voters who select the most correct (winning) matchups. In the event of a tie, a random drawing will determine the winners from among those participants with the same number of correct match-ups selected. Each Rave Prize winner will receive a $100 gift voucher for ROAD iD products and a $50 credit for INKnBURN standout performance apparel, with each runner-up receiving a $50 ROAD iD gift voucher and $25 INKnBURN credit. Each winner will also receive their choice of a RaceRaves classic tech tee, singlet (women’s style only) or race hat.

On or around April 4, 2018, RaceRaves will select the prize winners and notify them by email. If a winner fails to respond and claim their prize by 11:59pm PDT on Sunday, April 15, 2018, then another winner will be randomly chosen and secure all the glory and spoils therein.

An email address is required to ensure only one entry per person per round and to notify our winners at the end of the tournament. Only legitimate email addresses will have their votes counted and be entered in the giveaway. By submitting your email address you agree to receive periodic emails (including our monthly “Off to the Races” newsletter) from RaceRaves and only RaceRaves — you can unsubscribe at any time, and we’ll never share your info with anyone. We want you all to ourselves!
