This race has it all. It is a Boston Qualifier and features a flat, fast and very scenic course through wine country. The full marathon runs through DeLoach Vineyard’s Barrel Room and even features a Chardonnay Shot! The course has plenty of support – multiple gel stations, taiko drums, gatorade and water every 2 miles and plenty of cheering crowds. The race isn’t too big which is great as it still maintains an awesome down home vibe. The start and also finish festival is at a park in Downtown Santa Rosa and has a pancake breakfast, a live band and a beer festival to sample local craft brews. On top of all that, it has great swag — a finisher’s jacket, a bottle of wine, a long sleeve tech t and a huge spinner medal. This year had a stain glass effect and was beautiful. Love this race and will be back again!

This race has beautiful course with rolling hills the entire way which makes it a good challenge. The course is very well supported with abundant water stops, hydration drinks, gu, entertainment and cheering volunteers and locals along the way. The long-sleeve tech tee is good quality, however, was disappointed at the hot pink color — wish they would just go with gender neutral colors. The finisher medal is unusual as it is clay and has an artist rendering of a sea lion (as per race tradition). The post-race finisher zone has cookies, chips, beer, soup and a great band overall party vibe. Great race and we’ll be running in 2018!
