The course was beautiful. Since I live in SF I wasn’t too surprised or disappointed that the bridge was covered in fog – it was actually kind of cool to run through it. The hills during the first half of the race (and directly after the end of the bridge) were pretty challenging – I was able to run all of them but very slowly. I was more sore in the days after than I have been after other half marathons, but not overly. Next time I’ll know to train on more hills.
The race organization was alright. The start was extremely crowded and even though I started a bit closer to the start than I normally do, I still had to dodge people who started out walking for quite a while. It would really help if they did different waves or something – the first 2 miles were really congested. The ‘swag’ was OK – the medal is awesome and I really liked the shirt until I put it on and realized the sleeves are 3/4 length…still pretty comfortable but just a weird choice in my opinion.
Overall, I’ll definitely sign up for this race next year!
