I have done this race so many times I have lost count. From the old A to B course, to the new one which starts at Dodgers Stadium and runs to the Santa Monica Pier. The latest course is the best. It goes through a variety of different neighborhoods, Hollywood, Chinatown, down Rodeo drive and by the Whisky a Go Go. The course is mostly flat and fast with a nice downhill finish. Despite the large size of this race it opens up pretty quickly and never feels crowded like some big races can be.
The starting line is good and well organized which is essential for a race of this size. The crowd turn out is unbelievable. Spectators line all 26 miles of the course. The aid stations are numerous and never run out of anything. The early ones can get a bit crowded with all the people. And the new runners (and there are a lot of them) tend to stop suddenly at them. The finish line is very good also since it finishes right at the beach. It is kind of a long walk afterwards to find friends but it is usually warm so that is not a big problem. The sponsors are usually pretty generous with their drinks and snacks.
The pre-race expo is large with lots of freebies and samples. The shirt can be good to not-so-good. Sometimes short sleeves, sometimes long. But the medal is always very nice.

You definitely will PR on this fast downhill.
The first half it’s scenery you run through the Lytle Creek community, which runs through the San Bernadino National Forest. The rest of the seven miles is moderate to mostly gradual downhill run for the remainder of the race, all the way to the finish.
