I love this race. The downhill is great, but it’s not too aggressive like a Revel. It has a pretty good hill around mile 6 that’s helps break up the downhill terrain! The most difficult part of this race for me, and from what I’ve heard others say, is the late 8AM start. We got to the start line at 7 and waited for an hour. At that time it started heating up significantly. Around mile 5 I had to take off my tank top and run in my sports bra bc I began overheating. I felt really badly for the full marathoners that had to start at 8AM and run in the heat. Overall, I recommend this course but I wish they would start it a lot earlier!

I am a Fort Worth native, but no longer live there. I make sure to travel back every year to run the Cowtown Half. It is a wonderful race and gives you a nice tour of the city. The aid stations are always great, and the support is wonderful! There are some hills on the course, one big one around mile 9, but other than that it’s not too challenging! The most challenging aspect of the course for me personally is running in the humidity! As a native Texan I used to be better equipped for handling it, but now as a Coloradan 90% humidity on race day was challenging. Overall, I highly recommend this race. Fort Worth is a wonderful place to visit and the Cowtown is part of a great tradition!
