One of the most challenging half marathons I have run (I have run over 50), but the course was absolutely beautiful and worth the challenge. I love that Iron Mountain Road was closed for the race, so you could truly enjoy the scenery without worrying about traffic. My family liked that the race ended in Keystone because there were things for them to do at the finish while waiting for me. The race is very well organized and the medals are always fabulous! I love Vacation Races events!

I love races put on by Vacation Races, and this one was no different! Communication and race production is awesome! And the courses are usually great! This course was great but tough-lots of elevation in the first 6.5 miles and then the trail was fairly technical for a non-trail runner. The course was beautiful, though! Running through saguaro country! And I loved the finish in Old Tucson! That was awesome! And my two-year old had so much fun running around the finish area! I wound up grabbing 2nd in my age group, so the extra medal was nice!

The race was extremely well-organized and really catered to the runners. Packet pickup was open until late the night before. They held a pasta dinner. Breakfast on race morning was free for runners. The buses to take us to the start were great (not school buses!) with bathrooms and they stayed at the start line until almost the race start so you could stay warm. You could leave your bag on the bus and it was waiting for you at the finish line. I have never seen so many aid stations for a half marathon. Everyone was friendly. The scenery was beautiful. Lots of good post-race food. I was extremely impressed with this small town race! It was a great tune-up for Boston! It was challenging with the hills but a great course!

The course is fantastic–fairly flat with a few small hills. The race went very smoothly! I loved being able to hang out in the high school before the race–real bathrooms and you stayed warm! The finish line at Summerfest was super nice. No mud unlike when my husband ran the race several years ago! The volunteers were great! I also loved that they had a sign that water was ahead about 1/10-2/10 mile before the water station–it gave you time to have your nutrition before the water stop!

I loved the small town feel of this race! Everyone in Williamson was genuinely excited you were there. The race started on time even though it was raining and the buses were a bit behind schedule. The course was really muddy for about 1-1.5 miles because of the rain, but other than that I found it great but challenging! The swinging suspension bridge was fun! They had water stations every mile which I thought was great!

This race was fantastic! It was so much fun and the miles flew by! I will recommend starting near the front of your corral. I didn’t, and I regret it. I could not find my stride and was continuously dodging folks. The finishing chute is probably one of the best finishes I have ever run! I want to run this race again!

If you want a flat and fast half marathon, this is it! The scenery isn’t much, and it was 60 degrees and almost 100% humidity at the start, but it is FLAT. The only issue I had with the course was that when the 5Kers joined up with the half marathoners the walkers were taking up the whole lane and not making room for the half marathon runners. The race could have put up cones to keep the 5Kers to one side of the street. The swag was great!
