Despite road construction that wasn’t finished on time, my fourth time doing this. Many riders who were doing the Metric Century again ended up with the 100 milers as the markings weren’t as visible as they should have been. I suggested maybe having volunteers there to point people in the right direction. Otherwise the weather wasn’t too hot, like previous years.

Nothing like getting up at 4:30 am to get ready to run with 25,000 other runners and walkers in both events. Weather was perfect for the event, the course had great aid stations. The course had rolling hills, downhill near the end. The crowds of spectators were everywhere. It really helped , music was always and added bonus.

This can be a very scenic course which you onto the Stanley Park Seawall , this day however was all rain and of course with the sand on nearby beaches added some mud to the course. The race is capped at 2500. Overall it can be a fast course if you choose to race it.

It was +2 C or about 35F and with this race being off the shore of Boundary Bay it’s always windy. However the winds were gusting up to 50K and then combined with rain and sleet, well you get the picture. Otherwise the course is pretty flat mostly on packed trails. Lots of people didn’t show because of the weather, but the rest of us are diehards.🏃🏽♂️💨💦💦🏅

The weather was perfect for the day. There were about 600+ runners headed out from the village out towards the trails. I recommend doing some hill prep for this race. You do a lot of short track trails and it does climb a bit. I enjoyed it, she’s and back of my legs covered in mud. The post race food was a delight, not only the usual stuff but fresh bread, and cookies as well as grilled cheese sandwiches and coffee. Got like the Smartwool socks as well as the unique medal.

The race was delayed for over an hour due to a bomb scare. Waiting that long on concrete was a challenge. Once the race got going it was great to see all the people out there cheering. The volunteers were also great. Most runners would say that the course distance was at least 400M long. Otherwise the weather was perfect I still managed to run a sub 2 despite the delay.

Great event with lots of volunteers, I believe even though they had enough people for package pickup it still lacked the perfection of organization . Couldn’t even find my package despite registering weeks before. Otherwise I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again😊
