I loved this Half Marathon for a lot of reasons – well organized, cool weather, flat, scenic for an urban race, greet on course support, and a classy medal series so I am rewarded for coming back each year ( 4 medals, 2018-2021, will make up a cool collage that I can frame together).

Most of this race is on smooth paved trail through forest and a delightful experience. Weather is highly variable this time of year so be prepared. All the basics were in place but don’t expect frills. Cold bits of bagel, cut up bananas, and a cold beer made up the offerings after a long cold wet run. I would love to do this again just for the pleasure of a paved run through these woods. Loved it.

I’m always wary of trail races but never fear, this was perfect! I never missed a turn (very well marked) and trail surfaces were excellent, thanks to try weather and good grooming most of the race. Beautiful medal! Only thing I would add would be a food truck at the finish.

Really tough Half Marathon course but the most beautiful I have ever run. I don’t really mind IF it was a little short in distance – my legs were shot. But I’m not sure if it was short – my Garmin never exactly matches any race’s distance. Support was exceptional. I couldn’t ask for more – I just need to train more for steep hills for next year! Also, I especially liked being able to start early with the walkers – every other race I start last and spend the most time in the heat and sun, finishing with the food etc gone at the finish. HerMadison treated me so kindly!!

If you love the Indy 500 and crowds, this is a great race. Very well organized and you run the Speedway. For me, too many people and being slow meant running through the water stop and gel refuse of the 15,000 ahead of me. Other than the Speedway, not scenic. The far back corrals can’t hear or see the front festivities at the start. Overall It is a classic race and definite worth doing. I just prefer smaller more scenic races.

This is a hillier course than I thought it would be, and I know the area well. You get to see many great sights, but spectators and encouragement are limited. I saw one place with a porta potty on the whole route. Volunteers on route couldn’t answer questions. After the first 8 miles or so route guidance was sparse which is a problem if you’re in the tail end. I came in in 3:00 and they we’re out of bottled water, many support tables were already being packed up, no after party. Unisex sizes on shirts meant men’s sizes which were huge. None available for exchange. No sizes available for the small women or youth. For a runner like me, I give it a 2 of 5 overall. For a man running a fast race, it’s fine.

This race is phenomenally well organized and supported. Expo was the best I’ve been to. Loved the female theme – was wonderful to see things I actually was interested in at Expo and spent some money. Having music and people cheering for us the whole way was also a new and welcome experience. My first time to explore Cincinnati and we regretted not planning more time for the visit.

I thought we were crazy to get up at 4:30 and drive 75 miles to a 7am start but we had a blast. Doing the 5K we finished in time to watch the half runners come in, just below our brunch perch at the brewery. 830 am beer and brunch after a fun run was perfect! Medal has Christmas lights on it. Will definitely do again!

We just did the 5K as we were recovering from illness. It was a great excuse for us to visit South Bend and see Notre Dame. I felt all was very well organized and runners well cared for. Loved our shirts and medals, then enjoyed great fish and chips at a local pub. I hope for 2017 to do the half.
