Do not underestimate these hills. Do your hill repeats, do your lunges & get ready to hurt! I had a great time in Kansas City! The scenery was great and there’s a ton to do around there. The weather was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! The cons–the course is narrow in parts, like really narrow and crowded. The expo is also small. Overall it was a great experience.

I have run this race several times & it’s truly a great event. The expo is always fun- although this year there were less vendors than in previous years. The medal & shirt you receive are great. The course is medium difficulty–the hardest part being miles 9-11 aka the slow climb of death up Classen. Crowds and support are PHENOMENAL every year and there are a wide variety of pacers for those interested.

This race did not disappoint! This was my first marathon. I stayed in the sponsored hotel which was walking distance to the start line, had a sky bridge to get to the expo and had several restaurants inside the building. This made the stay so easy and the prices were very reasonable. The expo was so exciting-I met Shalane Flanagan and got her to autograph my race bib. Great vendors, very organized. The start line was one of the best I’ve been at–corrals organized well, starts well staggered. The course was extremely difficult around miles 17-19ish. Two really big uphills that crushed my pace–I wasn’t prepared for them. Course support was awesome, plenty of water stops, tons of cheering, no dead zones. The weather was perfect and I would recommend this race to anyone!

This was my first postpartum half marathon. I couldn’t have asked for a better race. The weather was perfect, the course was challenging and you CANNOT beat the crowd support on this course. Yes–it is hilly–but it’s such a fun time. The expo is large and full of great vendors, the race swag is AWESOME! I’d definitely recommend this race!
