Even before the start of the race the organizers had things organized well. You get a bottle of wine and a jacket when you pick up your bib. They made sure to communicate, A LOT! I mean A LOT, I have never gotten so many emails from a single race.
The race starts off in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa and then takes you along the river path for the majority of it. The scenery is very pretty, with the river, cows, vineyards. There is a little bit of a hill coming out of the river trail, but by that point you are hitting the home stretch. And the medal is very nice!
There are waffles and beer at the finish for you to enjoy.

This race is great until you get to that eternal beach path. Its as if you are crossing the sahara desert! Long, eternal and what feels never-ending. MORE

This was my first race with vacation races and I loved it. There were a lot of hiccups that were beyond their control, but they adjusted accordingly. The best way to describe the race was as if you we going camping in Zion and while you were there ran 13.1 miles. I opted to have my bib mailed and even that cost was very inexpensive and worth while so I didn’t have to stress about getting to the expo. I did go to the expo with a friend and it was relatively simple they had a line and it went pretty quick. They had smores and hot chocolate outside to enjoy by the fire.
The race start was cold, but what do you expect in April. They had hot chocolate and a warming tent. We got to the shuttle location early (as they suggested) and didn’t end up having to walk too far. The race started an hour later, but that was to accommodate the runners that hadn’t gotten to the race because of the parking situation.
The actual race started off in the mud and a little sloshing around, then off to the road and then back to trail. People complained about this, but the organizers made this known, so bad on the people that didn’t read the course information. The aid stations were cup free and had honey stingers at each one, with bananas at some. Arriving at the finish line and getting the beautiful medal and hot chocolate was worth the hard course. I would definitely do this race again and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for something a little different than your ordinary road race.

This was a nice race that is completely on the Ojai Bike trail so it is safe from vehicular traffic and is shared well with the bicyclist. The organizers did an excellent job at having plenty of aid stations, and being the last runner they waited until I came by to clean up. The medal was really nice as well. I would do this race again. And Kudos to the organizers for such a well run event.

I ran the first leg of the 2 person charity relay. I loved it. I wasn’t ready to do the full and honestly was a little intimidated by how big the LA marathon is. So having been given this opportunity it allowed me to test out the course and the ambiance of this race was amazing. I had so much fun, I hope to do the full someday.

I really enjoyed the race, the course was nice and had beautiful scenery.
Although the expo was well organized, maybe if they sent out the waiver and bib number in advance we could just go through rather than have to fill out the waiver there.
We got there super early to snag parking which had not yet turned into a mad house.
Once on the course there was plenty of support. I was really happy to see plenty of medics out and along the course especially since it was so warm. There was plenty of water and vitalyte and even had cliff blocs. I loved the medal it was more than I had expected and have to say it was really cool! Definitely would do this race again.
