It was a blast to participate in the inaugural SPACEROCK Trail Race held at Vasquez Rocks. This was a challenging event, but very rewarding. Trail races by nature feature unique terrain…and hills are a part of that. Just when I thought I was done with the hills, there was another hill. That’s okay…hills make me stronger.
I wanted to get there early and experience it all. The morning was overcast, so there was not a typical sunrise. It was great to get there before dawn though, in the dark, to take in Sunday morning at this iconic location.
New Global Adventures did an awesome job producing this event. There were challenges that ranged from creating a race in this iconic location that is overseen by LA County (dealing with them must be fun), to facilitating parking and shuttle busses. They also produce other local events and at spectacular locations in China. It’s clear they know how to do things right.
