I ran this half marathon so I could complete the Grand Quad challenge, otherwise I would not have run it simply because I am not a trail runner. If you are, you will love this race! The course is challenging and some parts are scenic, though not the whole thing. Miles 9-11 are quite rocky which resulted in many participants walking this part. There are a couple challenging hills which keeps the race interesting. As usual, the execution of the event was flawless. Vacation Races always does a good job of putting on events. The medal is beautiful and if you did one of the challenges, the extra medals also have great designs.

This is my favorite race, hands down. I’ve run it multiple times. Vacation Races always puts on good events, but this one is their best. The scenery is incredible. The course is slightly challenging, but not so much as to take away from the enjoyment of the race. Swag is typical but I really like the designs. I also enjoy the challenge option with the 5K the day prior. Beautiful medals!

I participated in a couple Vacation Races events and was immediately hooked and signed up for the Black Bear Challenge, too. As always, the event was extremely well organized. The 5K course was a little long, but I am sure that is something which will be remedied in short order. I thought the course was incredibly beautiful. I appreciated the finish line area being very near a couple local hotels, which made it very easy for after the race or to catch the shuttles before the races.

I participated as part of the Caldera Challenge event, so I also ran the 5K. The courses for both the 5K and the half were beautiful. I did, however, find them challenging as they seemed to me to be pretty technical trails. I am not used to running trails, though, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I was most impressed with the volunteers who worked waaaay out in the middle of nowhere to support the runners in this race. As always, Vacation Races put on an amazing event. I have run several of their races and they never let me down. I particularly appreciate the organization of the event!

Vacation Races never fails to put on an amazing event. From the giveaways to encourage you to come to the starting line nice and early, to the free race picture at the finish line, they cannot be beat. The scenery of this course is incredible the entire time. They even provide bug spray, sunscreen, etc. at the starting line, which I think is a nice touch that I have not seen at other races. I rated the course as a little difficult because I am not used to running at this elevation! The medals are gorgeous, too.
