The reviews of their 2013 version suggested it wasn’t well organized, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We shouldn’t have.
The 10k course was so badly marked that two runners finished in 25 minutes or so, and crossed the finish line in *different directions*. From there, it all unraveled. I’m not sure anyone actually ran a correct 10k.
The 5k was reasonably well marked (the turnaround wasn’t obvious, and many people over-ran it), but something went horribly wrong in recording the times. My wife ran a great race (won her age group, etc.), and was excluded from the timings for some weird reason. I emailed them, they didn’t respond, and it was never corrected. So, no medal for her.
The medal ceremony must have been 2+ hours after the race. We gave up and left. They said they’d mail the medals, but never did.
The course was ok. The time of year and weather were ok. The crowd was a friendly one. There were a few hundred people. The stalls / booths at the end of the race were plentiful. It had a good vibe.
But, for me, definitely won’t be there again — you have to be competent to get my entry fee.

This was my first Brazen race. I ran four more last year. Brazen is awesome.
The 5k is 2.5km of brutal uphill single track, and the same 2.5km back down again. It hurts. If you run under 30 minutes, you’re humming. The scenery is beautiful — undulating trails, leafy trees, cool in the shade.
The race production was perfect. Started on time. Collect your own medals at the end, leave when you want to – yes! Premium food (Peanut M&M’s — yum!). Cool tech tee. Best medals I’ve seen (yes, better than the RnR ones IMHO). Family all loved it.
