Don’t let the National Forest fool you. It starts off with a rather long steep hill and the next 11 miles is a fun up and down course. Then… the last 2 miles is extremely steep. The option for an additional Dri-Fit shirt is a plus. I ordered mine and wear it all the time. They run large. Great time, would do it again in a heart beat. Especially for the cause.

The post-race wine fest was great. Granted there were TONS of people crammed into a small space. It was a great way to talk with other runners who were also winos. The scenery was unimpressive. Running through a neighborhood isn’t why I signed up. The overall race was well put together and they even waited an extra 10 minutes for the late people, because the starting line was off of a back dirt road. 1 way in and 1 way out.

I will always run at least 1 MCM race a year. They are well put together, the crowds are wonderful and huge, and the proceeds go to the military. I’m starting to run more and more races in which my money goes towards a worthy cause. The military is my #1 go-to donation. The swag is always top notch.

I love SoFL, and the Miami scenery was a great motivator during the bike course. The running was a bit difficult being on the boardwalk. The entries to the beach were not blocked off, so beach-goers were constantly walking in front of the triathletes. The course is flat, with 2 bridges.

The MCM always puts on great races. My best friend and I ran this race for the first time in 2011 and LOVED it. Not only for the military personnel helping but for the large crowds that are drawn to cheer everyone on. The course is ALWAYS challenging with 2 large hills.

This was my very first 1/2 marathon. My best friend and I ran it together and loved the large cheering crowds, “alcohol alley” and the ever changing scenery. It’s a great event for people needing the extra push brought on by the cheering crowds.
