Gary Cradit's Staging Area

The Rocky Mountain Half was the 2nd leg of the Elk Double that I did with my daughter, Alli. We made this the focal point of a 2 week trip from Michigan to Colorado (Our fave state by the way). It was incredible to spend this time and adventure with her.
The race itself was certainly a challenge at times, we were in good shape but the mountain elevation made itself known pretty quickly. Luckily, the mountain scenery was a beautiful distraction from the work we were putting in. From the loop around the lake, the “few” feet of gain as we entered the meat of it, to the wonder and awe around us, to the gentle downhill as we passed the Stanley Hotel and made our way back in through Estes Park, I’ve never had a more picturesque run in my life.
The outdoor expo was really unique and the way it was organized was second to none.
The medals, the included swag, the race bib, the available shirts and hoodies, the special shirt for those in the Elk Double (My personal favorite hoodie ever. I wear it at least once a week) were all exceptional. When signing up for the race I was a little taken aback by the fees. This was put to rest immediately. It was well worth the cost and more. Honest.
I can’t tell you how truly fun the race was, it’s a memory that I will never lose and was made even better by being able to share it with my oldest daughter Alli.
Thank you Vacation Races, it was an incredible time. I would love to do it again!!
