I ran Myrtle Beach on my 50 states journey. The expo was located within a Dave and Busters, which was very loud, and very confusing. The volunteers at the expo (which was billed as a Health and Wellness Expo) were a bit grumpy, perhaps because of the noise level. The race start was chaotic, the half and full start together and the pace groups were mixed up. All that being said, the course was quite flat and designed for a PR. Nasty headwind/crosswind almost the entire race, but otherwise lovely. The race app worked beautifully for tracking and results.

This race was a great time of year in Florida. Coming from colder climates it was a nice break, and was even a bit warm. Very flat course with lots of turns. Shady for the most part.

The most challenging aspect was the run-walk pace groups. I’m all for run-walk if that’s your jam, but the pace group would take up the entire road and then stop right in front of you. Same for other running groups doing run-walk.

This is a beautiful course with lots of support- aid stations every 2 miles anyone? Music and crowd support also great. Pickle juice and junk food stops for those that want them. The downhill finish can be a bit scary depending on the effort you’ve put out throughout the race. I’d recommend this race to anyone!

Uphill start can be challenging, and starting corrals seemed disorganized and crowded. Not sure if they planned on the level of participation. Race starts with the 5k, which then veers off. Part of the race is dirt/gravel trail, and is a fairly steep downhill. Running across the Golden Gate Bridge was an amazing experience though!
