A Favorite race to run every year – this year with added trail hill in the middle. Well supported and run race, with lovely wooden carved medals. This year my first time pacing it, which made it more fun to help encourage folks on their first try.

Great run through through all parts of the city, tons of volunteers and cheering sections. Great after party. More than expected water stations. My favorite part was running into and through the infield at Churchill Downs, pretty neat. No pr as was a bit tired but a nice course

I don’t like to be negative as races are hard to do and require a lot of time and volunteers. That being said, I was a little nervous with a vague and basic website, especially no emails prior to the race. Location was gorgeous, great day 32-40 degrees and mostly sunny, breezy but not bad. Run took us through town and through several nature preserves – I count birds on my runs and had 26 species plus a close look at a male coyote, good stuff.
It was a two loop race, on the second loop there were no people to guide on the turns. The aid stations were mostly unmanned, and the 2nd at mile 5 had no cups. They also had no safety pins until 20 minutes before race, which started 15 min. Late which not a big deal but it was chilly.
At the finish, I came across at a pr, no one was there, luckily the mat recorded my time. There was a case of water bottles and small bag of chips off to the side, no medals or promised extra swag for marathon finishers, or apology for this, but if we wanted we could take an extra T-shirt and last years medal, they stayed they would mail us medals, but you had to ask. No medical either.
If you want a gorgeous race to run with mostly no support and no swag, it was a fun one. Hope this is mostly objective and not sounding too bitter, just want to warn others.

It was a cold day 29 degrees starting out, but sunny and great scenery starting with a colorful beach sunrise before the race. The course went through streets and into parks along the beach, along a boardwalk. My 3rd bald eagle seen in a marathon happened there. Further along, the path was lined with flags of all the countries and states represented by runners and as we ran by our names/where we were from were announced. Great after party with lots of great food – waffles, hot dogs, hamburgers, mac and cheese and 3 beer tickets each. Will definitely return

John Izzo puts on a great race in the hills of VT, featuring some great trails that beat you up good. I aspire to the 36 someday but the 14 was tough enough. Great shirts and hats and for a small race, John and volunteers make this a fantastic race to run. And no bears ate/drank our aid station stuff this year.
