The course is along the beautiful Mississippi River. I have run the marathon 8 times and the half 3 times. You start in Illinois and quickly cross the river to Iowa run up the only real hill and then back down to run along the river. You cross a 2nd bridge to finish in Illinois. The full course runs through Arsenal Island (Rock Island). There is a pretty golf course and some beautiful homes. For the full marathon, you turn away from the finish line and run out 3 miles then back to the finish. Lots spectators at the finish line, really good crowd, loud and fun. The RD, Joe is awesome! Always at the finish line giving high 5’s to finishers. He puts on a great race. Lots of spectators along the course, local musicians, high school band and local cheerleaders. Lots of activity the day before the race too. Yoga, children’s run, good expo, a shake out run. GREAT community event.
