Such a blast! I came solo and left with so many new friends. I had so much fun bonding with likeminded trail runners, learning from more experienced folks, being inspired by many adventurers. The scenery was unbeatable and exploring the parks was so fun, but what really sealed the experience for me was all the programming at base camp — massages, leg treatments, yoga, live music and dance performances, inspiring speakers, yummy community meals, and a whole crew of volunteers and staff that made us feel incredibly welcome and cared for. My heart is just bursting from trail fest and I have no doubt it will be the first of many.

I am a 4 time Saguaro Half runner and every time has been totally different and wonderful! Something I love about VR is that they truly listen to runner feedback and make changes to continuously improve the event. Also everyone running the event is super nice and supportive.
The scenery for this course is unbeatable! Just a huge fan. Can’t wait for next year!

I had a nice race in 2022, but there were a few issues like the med team being unprepared and too many falls on the technical portion. This year VR clearly took all the feedback given and seriously turned this into a 5 star race. The Old Tucson finish was unique and so much fun (petting baby goats at the finish?!) Also the swag from VR is always great.

This was my third VR (Yosemite and Joshua Tree), but by far the hardest. I’ve completed ultra trail runs and this was a surprisingly technical one. More spacing between racers would’ve been great, but I know the course is new and the team is learning. I always appreciate the VR series for their commitment to zero waste and community involvement — those aspects held true with this race. My only serious feedback is that the medical tent was not well stocked or prepared. They only had one size (small) bandages and no antibiotic cream (like Neosporin).
