There is nothing like running the 305 !!! Miami Beach at it’s absolute best with Latin music, energy and vibes. This is an extremely well organized event with a start / finish on world famous Ocean Drive and all of the fanfare that goes with it. The course scenery is spectacular – crossing over Biscayne Bay both ways is my favorite part. You will see the sunrise, palm trees, sail boats, yachts, cruise ships, Art Deco treasures, glassy high rises, the Performing Arts Center, South Point Park, and artsy Miami Beach lifeguard stations. The start and finish festivities are so much fun. Cuban coffee provided by Abuela Mami, post race beer by Michelob Ultra. PR Bells, dance party, and a huge Miami running community that comes together for this. The weather this year was perfect in the mid 50s and a crisp blue winter sky. This was my seventh year running this race and it is one of my all time favorite half marathons.

I loved everything about this race. Historic Charleston has so much beauty and charm. The first few miles of the course took us through the campus of the Citadel at sunrise when the mist was rising and the cadets were out lining up for formation, then we headed south along the waterfront and southern style mansions before heading up through historic King Street. Once we left town, we ran along the marshes that define the coastal Carolinas. At one point we even ran out onto the water on a pier and back. The race was super well organized, with great swag, tons of volunteers and a nice finale. What other race serves shrimp and grits at the finish line? More than anything I love the gorgeous medal which will forever commemorate my first BQ time.
