I love the Cowtown! This was my 3rd year running, and as always I participated in the Cowtown Challenge. The half course is one of my favorites, as you see so much of Fort Worth when you run. There are always high energy spectators and the support stations are excellent. My only complaint this year was that they started giving nuun instead of Gatorade – it upsets my stomach so I ran the entire half with no electrolytes except the ones in my gels. Other than that, a spectacular race.

This was my first marathon and I’ll definitely be running it again next year. The course was relatively flat but challenging, and the people were amazing. I finished just outside the cut-off time but they had a special area for the people who did that was very nice and set up just like the “real” finish. We got all our swag and snacks, and they were so awesome. I hope next year to finish faster but am happy to know that they care just as much about the slow runners as the elites.

I actually ran the 5K on Saturday and the half on Sunday for the second year in a row. I absolutely love the Cowtown. Unlike some races, it’s not strictly an out and back. You get to literally run around the city, from Trinity Park to the Stockyards and all the awesome sights in between. I’ve lived in Fort Worth most of my life – born and raised! – and I’ve never seen some of the places I see at the Cowtown. For out of towners, it’s a great tour of Fort Worth and a good, challenging course in a lot of places. I highly, highly recommend the Cowtown. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best weekend race experience in Texas.
