This race was an unbelievable experience and one that I would recommend to all – first time runners or long time runners. The courses were challenging and breathtaking in all the right ways. As a long time road runner this was my first real trail experience and I am ready for more. I plan on supporting this company and their races for years to come – the logistics, the courses, the campsites, the shuttles, the food – every detail was managed and well handled.

I loved this entire race weekend. I participated in the Chowder Challenge – running the half on Saturday and the full on Sunday.

The course is relatively flat and very scenic much of it covering the coast line and some great running trails. You will get a wonderful feel for this community on this course. The volunteers are amazing – many in abundance and so dedicated.

As an avid marathoner there were 3 things that disappointed me. Car control – the streets were still in operation but cars were flying through the streets and there are runners with headphones in that cannot hear the cars or their fellow runners telling them to watch out. I was scared I was going to see someone hit. 2nd concern there were little options for fuel or energy burst on the course – no oranges or bananas, just some halloween candy around mile 19. 3rd concern – I saw no medic tents along the route.

All in all – great race, great support, I enjoyed my run and would come back and do it all again.

This is a phenomenal race that one needs to experiance. There isn’t anything like running the Las Vegas Strip at night. Live musicians, trapeze artists, crowd participation, lights, sound, the works. However, this race is not easy on the body. Being an avid long distance runner and with multiple marathons below my belt I found this one challenging. I believe it was “rougher” than usual because of the time change (night and mountain time zone – I am an early morning East coast gal) and possibly the altitude. I felt sick at several points in the race (no I hadn’t been drinking) and my running buddy was physically ill at the end of the race. Just be aware there are many demands on your body with this race as you find yourself out of the norm.
