Great first race back after year of pandemic virtual racing! The race was super well organized with an uncrowded (waves of 5 people starting every few minutes) and masked starting/finish line. Staff were amazingly helpful start to finish (even helping me stuff my jacket in my bag at the last second when my wave was called and helping me with a t-shirt exchange via mail)! Course had beautiful views of Lake Sammamish almost the entire way and dead flat. Only slow down was a bit of headwind (since we were heading south) and the 3 miles of gravel, which isn’t their fault and they forewarned (plus, I still PR’d!)

This is exactly how a race should be organized in the current time period, and I’m so grateful to Orca Racing for making this happen!

This is a must-do during your running career. It caters to both regular and casual runners. The course was beautiful, and there were great crowds to cheer you on throughout the course (the midway crowd was my particular useful for me!). The course felt somewhat difficult with a lot of rolling hills (and the heat didn’t help), but the beautiful scenery helped it fly by. Before I knew it, I finished with a new PR by TWO minutes! Only change I’d make is to host it on a Saturday, so, those from out of town can get a full day of post-run wine tasting in before flying out!

Even with the rain, this was a great race. The setting was beautiful and it was great to go tasting afterwards. For the most part, there aren’t many spectators or cheer areas on the course, which can be good and bad; however, I liked it. In addition, the finishing area became a muddy mess due to all the rain; however, they did have some wine available. My only preference would have been for more areas to get warm after the race…we basically left right after the race because everything was outdoors, rainy, and cold.
