Positives about the race:
*Clear communication; every step of the way, I felt like I knew what was going on. They discussed everything I needed to know.
*Quick response to questions: kind of goes with the statement about; but I emailed them a question and I got a response within a half hour; way quicker than I was expecting.
*Options for parking; I opted to pay a little more for parking, but it was well worth it in the end; highly recommend. Safe, close, and convenient
*The swag: the medals were cute and unique and pretty big. The quality was amazing. The blankets were GREAT!
*The volunteers- they were friendly, nice helpful and over the top wonderful. Everyone I spoke to was great.
*The course: very runable – and relatively flat! It was nice to experience 13 miles of canton. It was nice to have some crowd support from the community.
Finishers area: Loved this- the food trucks, the food tent for racers, the bleachers and places to hang out. We hung out for quite a bit after the race, cheering others on and just celebrating the day. It was also great as someone who was a spectator while my boyfriend ran the full that there were several locations I could walk to on the course to see him.

Slight feedback (wouldn’t change if I did the race again, just some suggestions)
*It got really hot out, and I know you cant change the weather, but having an additional water stop or having ice / cold towels on the course would have especially been nice for my friends who ran the full marathon.
*The relay exchange- these places got really crowded- having a separate lane for relay exchanges would have been great so it wasn’t so chaotic there.
*Bags for the food at the end of the race- when you are exhausted, its just hard to hold everything and juggle it all.

This race was a particularly easy 5k, with most of it being downhill, a slight incline after about mile 2. The medals were cute; nothing as great as I received the next day for a half. But sometimes for 5k’s they don’t even get medals, so it was nice. The bib pick up was easy and flawless; volunteers were helpful and friendly.

My only suggestions for the race would be:
*Having a water stop; I know it’s a 5k, but it was pretty humid out, so water somewhere on the course would have been nice- or making a clear announcement there would be no water.
*Something at the end; we ended up just going to the expo to get our things for the next day, but it just felt like nothing much was set up for the 5k
*Optional shirts- Giving people an option to opt out for a shirt for a reduced fee.

I have been running for about 3 years- several half marathons, a marathon and many other races. I would trail run here and there and at first didn’t like it. And when I would trail run, I would only do so in the summer. My boyfriend found this race and convinced me to do it; my longest trail run before signing up for this was 6.2 miles! So I said sure, why not and added more trail runs into my training. I had never done a trail race in the winter and it was going to be my longest trail run ever!

Positives about the race:
*Communication: they posted on their FB page; gave teasers of things to come and sent out emails.
*The swag: I loved the handmade finisher awards; its one of my most cherished! The patagonia ladies shirts were so wonderful- they were soft, and pretty and fun!
*The course!! So yeah its challenging; but I like that. But it was amazingly beautiful and pushed me past my comfort zone
*Race day: it ran smoothly, course was marked and it started on time. It was well supported at aid stations and the volunteers were amazing.
*Photo opportunity with a sasquatch! this may not appeal to some people but I LOVED it!! The race photos were super cheap to buy, so I also supported that.
*The food/warm drinks at the end was awesome! It was cold that day, so it was nice to be warm after!

Areas of suggestions:
Honestly I don’t have any. There was nothing that I would have changed or didn’t like or wasn’t happy about. Several hours in beautiful trails will do that. Thanks to the race for making my first long trail run exceptionally amazing! You have set the bar high for other races!

This was my second year in a row completing this race. It is a fun half marathon and a pretty easy course in my opinion since it is relatively flat. To support the Children’s Hospital and to see the kid’s on the course and read about their stories, is truly fabulous!

The good parts about the race:
*It is super organized! This year we were upgraded to Corral B and were through the start line in just a couple minutes.
*They have 350 bathrooms in the corrals. Each corral has their own bathrooms
*The shirts- they are awesome quality, but make sure to order the right size because they don’t always offer an exchange
*How motivating the course is- the kids and their families
*They have fireworks in the beginning and do this several times so even if you are in a back corral you have the same experience. And the beginning of the race feels like a party; its hard not to get all excited
*The course is an easy one to PR on- it’s primarily downhill
*The crowd support is awesome
*The medals were so great
*They give you a bag to put all of the food in, they have plenty and it’s all wrapped so there are no germs on it
*Quick turnaround with photos and results
*The responsiveness from the race on social media! And how they promote their race and send out info

There aren’t many things that I didn’t like or wish that would be improved and most of them have nothing to do with the race itself:
*Columbus downtown having more places that are open. Staying here we often have trouble finding places to eat
*Having to spend money on a hotel for the night – wishing our local race was this fabulous
*The expo this year just felt confusing and not easy to navigate

I really enjoyed this race. I went there with the intention of attempting a PR; it wasn’t there for me that day, but it was for the two people that I traveled with. It is a smaller race and I liked the community feel.

Some positives about the race:
*Same day bib pick up; we drove a couple hours and it was nice not to have to get a room, just pick up our bibs
*the medals were great – they even lit up!
*the shirts were nice
*the race started on time, was well marked and had plenty of water/aid stations
*Price was reasonable to sign up
*Easy parking, getting to the start of the race, etc.

There isn’t anything that I would change about it. It was a nice race.

I booked a trip to Hawaii; on Maui and then started looking for races; saw that there was a half marathon on Kona and said, why not!

Here are the positives I found about the race:
*Bucketlist~ a lot of this, was to experience a half in Hawaii and to do that was priceless and amazing
*Communication I felt like was decent- not the best that I have seen, but I felt like I had enough information.
*I really like the medals, they were cute
*I liked some of the scenery, but some of it was interesting running along the highway.
*Easy course
*was convenient and easy to get back and to the race start. Liked having packet pickup where we were staying.

Things that were alright or needed improvement:
*More water on the course due to the temperatures
*Starting earlier due to the heat; especially for the marathoners
*the shirts were ok, not bad, just nothing great
*The 5k and shorter races and the merging was a little hard at times
*the resort was really expensive (but then again, it is hawaii)

This is my 3rd time doing this event- I did it the inaugural year (this was my first ever half marathon), the 2nd year and then this year.

Its a great local race! Here are the things that I enjoyed about the race:
*The communication: emails, instagram, fb posts, and more. They are always communicating with you!
*Parking- they give you options, they are easy, walk able and convenient
*Finishing on the track: its fun and exciting and a great way to end a race
*The crowd support- for such a small race, its amazing to see how the town gets all into it, I love it!
*Running in Scranton; i love this city and its a cool way to see it
*It’s a relatively easy course with some hills, but its an enjoyable course (for the most part)
*Lots of water stops, great volunteers
*The swag- the medals are always great and I love the fleece blankets at the end. I also like the extra swag you can purchase- this was super important to me when I was doing my first half. I have a lot of bling!
*The after party and free beer at some of the local bars! A cool way to hang out and celebrate your victory!

Some things that could be improved (and knowing this race is new, I think they will work out the kinks)
*the trail portion- it gets too crowded and congested
*the t-shirt sizing runs a little small
*the expo; its a little lack luster, but the Scranton Running company is my favorite booth

So this was my 2nd hot chocolate race, but my first one in Philadelphia. We had 5 people all together in our group, 2 were running the 5k and the rest of us were running the 15k. When I was first asked to run this race, I was excited because I think that Philadelphia has a lot of cool sites and like running there. The course was easy but so boring- with so many options of running around Philly, it was quite the disappointment that we spent 90% of the time if not more, on the trail. This made for a pretty boring run.

The expo was great- I actually think the HC races have better expos than a lot of races. I really loved the zip up jackets and i love the medals. I do like how the medals are customized for the different cities.

I like the different corrals so the course doesn’t get too crowded. I also thought the water stops were adequate enough.

So this review will be short because this race was cancelled. Race directors cannot manage weather but they can manage how they handle it.

I was excited for this race. Florida; January; and 13.1 miles of fun. But unfortunately a huge storm came in; they attempted to postpone the race for an hour or so, and then eventually cancelled it.

I am from PA- so rescheduling it would have been inconvenient, but it would have still given me a choice about what I wanted to do.

My problem with this race isn’t that they canceled, it’s that they didn’t make right. No refunds. I understand they already spent some money on things, but no refunds- seems wrong. They offered us a 15% discount on the following years race. Again, no option to defer until the following year.

The shirts were ok. Nothing special. I would never do this race again just based upon how they handled the situation after they cancelled.
