This is a nice, family-friendly local race that is a fund-raising event for the Hospital and Clinics at Stanford. It’s well organized, they work to keep things on schedule, and the post-race activities and tables w/ swag and hosted by their various affiliated organizations are nice. Kids’ fun run afterwards is well put together (try corraling a bunch of 3-10 year olds). They send bib and t-shirt via mail, and parking is easy (so no need to have to plan early arrival on race morning).

Low key, fun race benefiting the local schools. Goes through the neighborhood (and run by the local donkeys!). They pack a lot into it, including a 1 mile race and various kids’ races (by grade, K-5). Purely run by volunteers, so don’t expect an army of professionals, fancy A-V set-up, etc. No chip timing, but hey, this is for fun and community.

Have run this 12+ times since 2003. Consistently perfect weather (nice and cool, often foggy at the start). Can’t beat the experience running across and back on the Golden Gate Bridge. While some of the city running is drab, you do get to run by Fisherman’s Wharf, through the Marina and Golden Gate Park, through the Haight, by the ballpark,… Starts real early, but you get to avoid traffic getting in (and lots of free street parking w/in a half mile of the start). The hills add up, so this isn’t the race for your PR. Love this one (though I heard the one they ran after Covid had challenges, and the price is now 2x).
